Mexican Families Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social IMSS

Posted by Dr. Martha Andrea Castro Noriega, MD

After a marvelous week shared with my daughter, my whole family and friends, full of fun, cycling challenges, love and triumph in Iowa, USA, I am back to my main wonderful world that I adore: medical practice and medical research.

I found this important article from the IMSS -Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social- about how to detect real-time PCR of the RDEB -Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa- associated c.2470insG Mutation in Unrelated Mexican Families. This discovery, proudly by Mexican medical researchers (yes, I have to bold it!) is of extreme importance since it makes genotyping and differential diagnosis way easier, and furthermore, very economical (about $3 to $5 USD), fast, reliable and sensitive.
