Ciclismo Giro d’Italia 2013 Arranca!

Cycling In My Life Part 2

Cycling is fully part of my life now. I have changed car wheels for bicycle wheels.  Whether cycling to work or the shops, market or hospitals,  for leisure  or hard training on the weekends, cycling is my great experience in my life and great fun too.

Cyclist Andy Schleck Quits Tour Méditerranéen 2013

Andy Schleck decided to quit the Tour Méditerranéen after presenting breathing difficulty while racing stage 2. He tells the press that he needs to rest and stay away from the cold and the wind for his lungs to recover.

Andy Schleck of Saxo Bank.

“This morning I already had breathing problems. Instead of getting better, it just got worse during the race because of the cold and the wind,” Schleck said in a press release.

“I didn’t want to abandon out of respect for the fans and the organization, but also because I need this competition. After the Tour Down Under I felt I was in a good way and I was really looking forward to this race. I am now sicker than I was before. I need to let my body recover and I hope I can resume training as soon as possible. In theory my race program will not change.”

Fabian Cancellara Not Focussing on the Tour de France 2013

ON THE PHOTO: Look at Cancellara’s calves!

Fabian Cancellara has not decided yet about racing the 2013 Tour de France, instead he wants to focus on the classic races for the moment, and I am looking forward to watch him win some stages or one day races where time trials are involved.

“The main focus will be the classics,” said Cancellara, who explained that he will line up in the Tour of Oman, Strade Bianche, Milan-San Remo, E3 Harelbeke, Gent-Wevelgem, the Tour of Flanders, Scheldeprijs and Paris-Roubaix in the coming two months, while Amstel Gold Race is also a possibility.

“And the rest of the season? We leave it for now. I know that there was a lot of talk about me not going to the Tour de France because there’s no prologue and this and that, but on the other hand, it’s the classics first, and then after that I want to see what the next step is.”

Amazing Cycling Picture for this Weekend

I hope you all have a great Sunday ride, long, full oxigen, adrenaline, fun, sweat and excitement, because that is what cycling is about, not ALL about though; cycling is so much more than just that, a long list actually, so long that I doubt I would finish tonight describing how beautiful cycling is, and since I am sleepy and have to go to bed early to get up early for my Sunday bike ride, I would limit my words to these written lines and this pic.

Lance Armstrong a Misogynist Insulting Emma O´Reilly

Disgraced ex-professional cyclist, Lance Armstrong, is now being investigated for fraud and drug trafficking too: “A federal investigation into Armstrong regarding doping-related crimes, including fraud and drug trafficking, ensued.” Source

I admired this guy (Lance) for several years and defended him, without knowing  the kind of person he is. He is not only a cheater and a liar, but  he is also a misogynist, like in the case of Emma O´Reilly, an Irish masseuse who worked as Lance´s soigneur and masseuse for cyclists, calling her an alcoholic and a prostitute: “After ending her involvement with US Postal in 2000, O’Reilly to the book L.A. Confidentiel, written by Sunday Times journalist David Walsh. The book presented evidence against Armstrong, who subsequently labelled her a “prostitute” and an “alcoholic”, O’Reilly claims.”   Source

“Lance Armstrong threatened, publicly attacked and worked tirelessly to destroy people who dared to tell the truth about his doping, lying and cheating. Lance sued Emma O”Reilly and called her an alcoholic and prostitute. He worked hard to prevent her from earning an income. Lance did all he could to harm Greg LeMond’s bicycle business. He tried to destroy LeMond’s reputation. He showed the same despicable, hurtful and mean behavior toward Betsy Andreu and many, many others.” Source

Lance Armstrong is Officially Off Tour de France Winners History

Finally, Lance Armstrong has been officially disqualified from his 7 Tour de France winning and he has to turn over his titles and medals. We all know the story, the drama surrounding this cyclist that was so much admired by me and millions of others.  It it is frankly pathetic what has been going on for so long. The deceit, the lies and cover ups, not only by Armstrong but by many agencies and departments, some private, some governmental.

I admit it, and I declare myself guilty. Guilty of admiration, guilty of following a cheater, a greedy professional cyclist who only cared about money and fame. Good riddance, Lance.

“When he will be notified Mr Armstrong will have 21 days to launch an appeal. It is only after that period that the IOC can legally take action.”

Lance Armstrong has officially lost his seven Tour de France titles and all of his other results after July 1998. The UCI informed him that the disqualifications were now in force, and he has three weeks to appeal that decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“Lance Armstrong’s lawyer was notified on 6th December that all his results since 1st August 1998 were nullified. He has 21 days to appeal,” UCI spokesman Enrico Carpani told the Reuters news agency.
