Cyclist Women of the World Italian Cyclist Fabiana Luperini (P0002)

Fabiana Luperini, another great cyclist that is hardly mentioned in the news or main-stream media. Needless to say that she deserves to be honored due to her absolute dedication to cycling and constant triumphs.

From 1995 to 1998 Luperini dominated women’s road racing winning just about everything in sight including 4 Tours of Italy and 3 Tours of France. She lost her 4th TDF by just a minute and a half to Edita Pucinskaite, however she was first over the top on Mount Ventoux. Since 1998, the Fleche Wallonne has become one of women cycling’s premiere events. The inaugural race was won by Fabiana and proved such a success that the event became an official UCI World Cup race. Luperini is the only women to win the Fleche Wallonne a record three times, 1998, 2001 and 2002!

Awakening the Flat Tire Gods

Beware, do not make the Cycling Gods angry, or you will get a flat tire, 7 times in a row!

FlatTire

Has anyone ever warned you about awakening the bicycle flat tire Gods?  Heed their advice, because I just found out that this is for real.

Yeah, you’ve more than likely had a situation where you’re talking about how long it’s been since you had a flat tire….and then been immediately warned not to bring up such a subject.  It’s been said that mentioning such words will awaken the flat tire Gods and curse you with a fury of flats on your bike.

I was first exposed to this whole thing when I wrote a post called “The Longest Lasting Tube Ever“.  In it I explained that I had gone for a very long time without getting a flat tire…and that’s when all the warnings came.  I’m a bit superstitious so I honestly was a little freaked out, and for several rides after I was constantly worried about getting another flat.

Lucky for me, they didn’t come…..so time went by and the whole flat tire God thing wasn’t given much attention.  Until Now.

A few weeks ago I rented one of our mountain bikes from Mocha Spoke.  Two days later, the customer had a flat tire while riding on the main streets.  When this happened I told my Wife how surprised I was that he got a flat on a mountain bike tire while riding the same roads I do with my road bike….and that I’ve only had one flat in two months.

I had said too much.  I had definitely Awoken the Gods this time.

In the 5 days following me speaking these words, I experienced 7 flat tires between two of my bikes.  Yes, the Gods were angry.  I couldn’t believe it.  I was in flat tire hell and didn’t know how I was ever going to get out of it.

I told them I was sorry and that I’ve learned my lesson, but I’m a little scared to say if this actually worked or not. I don’t want to disturb them again.  So let’s leave it at this….my advice to you.

It appears that writing about your lack of flat tires may be okay, but please do not ever speak about it in private or public.  You’ve been warned.

Katie Compton Wins Cyclocross Namur World Cup

On a mucky, muddy tough day Katie Compton pulled ahead on the first lap and never looked back. The course had a lot of running and Katie looked strong. An impressive victory on a tough course.

“The technical parts were fun, although the off-camber section was tricky. I love this race,” said Compton. “Things are looking really good for the World Cup. I might not have to go to Hoogerheide to get the overall win.” To skip the final World Cup round in Hoogerheide, the US-champion must have a lead of at least 60 points after the next two World Cup rounds in Zolder and Rome.

ABBA Dancing Queen to Cycling Queen of the World!

This is the ABBA song that has reached the whole world and made many people dance and sing: Dancing Queen. Today, with all respect to its original lyrics and all my love for cycling, I replaced some words for others to have a good laugh tomorrow in my 75 kms Sunday bike ride. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

ORIGINAL

You are the dancing queen

Young and sweet, only seventeen

Dancing queen, feel the beat

From the tambourine, oh yeah

CHANGED

I am the CYCLING QUEEN

Young and sweet, ready to hit the streets,

Cycling queen, feel the beat

Of the pedaling machine, oh yeah,

ORIGINAL

You can dance, you can jive

Having the time of your life

Ooh see that girl, watch that scene

Dig in the dancing queen

CHANGED

I can sprint, I can climb

Having the time of my life

Ooh see that girl,

watch that scene

Dig in the CYCLING QUEEN!

Beautiful Cyclist Female Legs with Well Defined Muscles

Bristish Female Cyclist Victoria Pendleton Wins Gold Medals on Olympic track Velodrome

I am extremely happy for Victoria Pendleton, my cyclists helmet goes out to her!

The 31-year-old Pendleton gave Britain its third gold medal in two days of competition on the super fast track, just moments after Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas, Peter Kennaugh and Steven Burke won the team pursuit title in a world record time.

Great Britain’s Victoria Pendleton won the women’s keirin gold medal on day two of the Olympic track cycling program. Chinese rider Shuang Guo was second and Wai Sze Lee of Hong Kong won the bronze medal.

Women´s and Men´s Individual Time Trial at London Olympic Games

Get ready for the Individual Time Trials for women and men going on tomorrow. There will be 40 men cyclists and 25 women cyclists racing for the medals.

KRISTIN ARMSTRONG

Elite Men and Women cyclists will compete in the time trial Olympic events tomorrow. Starting at Hampton Court Palace, the men will cover a distance of 44KM while the women will cover 29KM. The women’s Time Trial sessions start at 12.30pm with the men’s trials starting at 2.15pm. Both groups will travel through the Ancient Market Place, past the Tourist Information Centre over Kingston Bridge on route back to the finish line at the end of Hampton Court Road. Unlike the road races that rely on the cyclist’s stamina, the time trials are all about speed. The cyclist who gets to the finish line the quickest will have Olympic victory.

In the Time Trial, athletes start at 90-second intervals and the one to complete the course in the fastest time is the winner.
